Badgi Blast: We Built a Game

5 min read

We built a game. It's called Badgi Blast, it lasts 60 seconds and runs in your browser, on your phone or your computer. Badgi pulls back a slingshot, and the ammunition is kettlebells.

Why a game? Because we felt like building one. And because there's something in it you know from training: the colour code of competition kettlebells. Pink, blue, red. Play a few rounds and you'll know it by heart.

In short: A round lasts 60 seconds, hits in a row make the kettlebell heavier, and every level doubles your points. You play on badgi.crossequip.ch, no app needed. The game runs in seasons, and the first one lasts until Sunday, 15 November, 6 pm.

How a round works

You see the savanna through Badgi's eyes, his paws on the slingshot at the bottom of the screen. Wall ball targets fly through the picture from the left and right – our Double Wall Ball Target, only airborne this time.

  • Aim and shoot: On your phone, tap where you want to hit. On a computer, the mouse aims and a click fires.
  • The further back, the more points: A target in front is worth 5 points, in the middle 10, all the way back 25.
  • Reloading: After five shots the magazine is empty. On your phone, tap the magazine; on a computer, press R. It takes one second.
  • The finale: In the last 10 seconds the clock turns red and more targets appear.

Hold your phone in landscape. In portrait, the game asks you to rotate it.

The colour code: pink, blue, red

You don't choose which kettlebell you're firing. You earn it.

Level Kettlebell When Points
1 pink, 8 kg at the start ×1
2 blue, 12 kg after 5 hits in a row ×2
3 red, 32 kg after 8 more hits ×4

So a target all the way back hit with the red 32 kg bell is worth 100 points. With the pink 8 kg it's 25.

And in real training?

The colours in the game aren't made up. With competition kettlebells, every bell is the same size, whether it weighs 8 or 32 kg: 21 cm diameter, 3.5 cm handle. That way your grip and technique stay the same every time you change weight. So you recognise the weight by its colour. This is how our competition kettlebells are coloured:

Weight Colour
8 kgpink
12 kgblue
16 kgyellow
20 kgpurple
24 kggreen
28 kgorange
32 kgred

Three of them appear in the game: the lightest, one from the middle and the heaviest. In training, going from 12 to 32 kg would be a very big step. In the game, it's the reason you keep shooting.

The hard rule: one miss, back to pink

A shot that doesn't hit a target sends you all the way back to the pink 8 kg bell, even if you just had the red 32 kg loaded. A target you simply let fly past, on the other hand, costs you nothing.

So it's better to wait a moment until one is in a good spot than to fire blindly. Reloading doesn't break your streak, by the way.

Golden targets: up to 70 seconds

Every now and then a golden target flies through the picture. Hitting it gives you 5 extra seconds on the clock.

  • The first one comes in every round. Exactly when is different every time.
  • You have to earn the second one: it appears after 20 hits without a miss.

There are never more than two. So a round never lasts longer than 70 seconds.

Leaderboard and seasons

You see your score right after the round. You reveal your rank on the leaderboard with your first name and email.

  • Only your first name is public, together with your score. Your email never appears anywhere.
  • Your best round of the season counts. Play as often as you like. A weaker round won't pull you down.
  • On a tie, whoever reached the score first ranks higher.
  • You only get news from us if you want it. The checkbox for that is optional.

Every season has its own leaderboard. Season 1 starts today and runs until Sunday, 15 November 2026, 6 pm (Swiss time). This time, there's something to win for the top three.

After that, we want to keep going: we're planning more seasons, for example at Christmas, in winter or in spring, each with a slightly different look. What there is to win in a season, we'll announce when it starts.

Challenge your friends

Playing against a leaderboard full of strangers is one thing. It really gets going when you know who you want to beat.

As soon as you've revealed your rank, you can share your score straight from the game. It comes with a card showing your points, your rank and the question: "Can you beat 2045 points in Badgi Blast?", with your number, of course.

  • On your phone, tap "Share" and send the card to the app of your choice, for example WhatsApp or Instagram.
  • On a computer, share it via WhatsApp or email, save the card as an image or copy the link.

Anyone who opens the link lands straight in the game. No download, no sign-up before the first round.

Our round: 2045 points

We've set the bar: 44 hits, 100 % accuracy, the red 32 kg bell in the magazine at the end. Result: 2045 points. Badgi lowered the slingshot and took a look.

Send the link to your training partner and check on Monday who's higher up.
