Description

Change plates set for clean micro-progression

The High Grade Change Plates Set includes everything for clean progression: 12 plates – in pairs – from 0.5 kg up to 5 kg. Instead of jumping coarsely from 10 to 15 kg, you progress in controlled micro-steps of 0.5 or 1 kg. That's often what makes the difference between stagnation and a new PR – in bench press, in pressing, in deadlift. The IWF color coding makes recognition easy: white for 0.5 and 5 kg, green for 1 kg, yellow for 1.5 kg, blue for 2 kg, red for 2.5 kg. Grab what you need without reading labels.

Rubber jacket instead of metal on metal

Each plate has a steel core with rubber jacket. It protects the shaft of your barbell from scratches and dampens the typical metal-on-metal clang during plate changes. The 50 mm bore fits all Olympic barbells – so you can mix the change plates freely with your bumpers or cast-iron plates. We've used the same change plates in our Box for years, in coaching sessions and daily athletic training – they hold up reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included in the set?
12 plates: 2× 0.5 kg, 2× 1 kg, 2× 1.5 kg, 2× 2 kg, 2× 2.5 kg and 2× 5 kg. That covers the most common change-plate increments for precise progression – from small micro-steps (0.5 kg) to mid-range jumps (5 kg).
Why is there no 1.25 kg in the set?
The set follows the most widely used IWF-standard increments (0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 5 kg). The 1.25 kg is more common in the powerlifting space – if you need it (e.g. for 2.5 kg jumps at the lower end), order it separately. Or take the Set 1.25 / 2.5 kg, which brings exactly those two weights in pairs.
Will the plates fit my bar?
Yes, if your bar is Olympic standard (50 mm bore). That's the standard for all barbells in CrossFit, Olympic lifting and powerlifting. Home bars with 30 mm bore are not compatible.
Why rubber jacket instead of pure metal?
The rubber jacket protects your bar from scratches and dampens the typical metal clang on plate changes. That makes a noticeable difference in a Box with an early morning class, in a quiet athletic session, or in a home gym sensitive to the apartment above.
What does the IWF color coding mean specifically?
The colors follow the International Weightlifting Federation standard: white for 0.5 and 5 kg, green for 1 kg, yellow for 1.5 kg, blue for 2 kg, red for 2.5 kg. From distance and under competition time pressure, you recognize the weight instantly without reading labels.
How small does the smallest step get?
1 kg on the bar, with the pair of 0.5s. After that come 2, 3, 4, 5 and – with the pair of 5s – 10 kg. Out of the six sizes in the set you can build almost any in-between step instead of slapping on another five.
Can I combine the set with other plates?
Yes. As long as the bore is 50 mm Olympic standard, change plates combine freely with bumper plates or cast-iron plates. You typically use bumpers or cast iron for the main weight and add change plates for fine progression.

Customer reviews

Change plates are what many setups are missing. You don't have to keep jumping in 5 or 10 kg increments – with controlled 0.5 or 1 kg steps, you make more progress in weeks than with coarse jumps where you often fail. We assembled the set the way we use it ourselves – for competition prep and coaching stations. Buy once, all the standard micro-steps covered.
