Description
The plate for the lifting platform
Competition bumper plates belong where the lifting is clean: on the platform. Snatch, clean and jerk, the heavy sets in competition prep. You let go of the barbell β and it should stay down instead of jumping back at you. That is the point of these plates: the rebound is low, the barbell stays under control.
All four weights measure 450 mm across. The barbell therefore starts at the same height whether there are 40 kg or 180 kg on it β your bar path stays the same through every jump in weight. We sell the plates individually; for a pair you order the same step twice.
Rubber disc with a bolted steel insert
What you are holding is a coloured rubber disc with a chrome-plated steel insert in the middle. Six screws hold it in place around the bore. The bore itself is a metal sleeve at 50.40 mm and sits on every Olympic barbell with a 50 mm sleeve. The edge runs evenly all the way round.
The lettering is raised in white rather than printed β "cross equip", the weight, "COMPETITION KG", and all of it twice per side, rotated by 180 degrees. So you read the number no matter how the plate happens to lie. Diameter and colour code follow the IWF specifications: 10 kg green, 15 kg yellow, 20 kg blue, 25 kg red. The plates do not carry a test seal β where certified equipment is mandatory at a competition, the organiser supplies it.

If you train weightlifting or are preparing for a competition, the competition plates belong on your platform. For everyday training the Colour or Black Bumper Plates do the job β more rebound, but lower in price.
