Description

Done with hauling ice cubes

Anyone who bathes cold on a regular basis knows the drill: without a chiller you hold the temperature with ice cubes and cold water - and top up before every session. The ice bath chiller takes over exactly that job. You set the temperature you want, it holds it. The range runs from 3 to 42 °C, so the unit can heat as well. A nice side benefit for the cold months - a sauna replacement it is not.

You run the water chiller over WIFI, by remote or through the app for iOS and Android. Meaning: you start the ice bath cooling from the sofa and step into water that is already at temperature later on. An ozone disinfection unit is built in, and an external water filter comes on top - filter and water hose are included. Both versions are rated IPX4 against splashing water from all sides. Not against jets of water and not against submersion: outdoors, put it under a cover or in a sheltered spot rather than leaving it out in the rain.

Which chiller suits which tub

In our experience the Iso Tubs land somewhere around 200 to 500 litres depending on size and fill level - that is our estimate from practice, not a manufacturer spec. In that range the difference between the two versions gets concrete: from 23 to 5 °C the Basic (1450 W) needs 5.6 to 9.8 hours, while the High Performance (2900 W) does the same in 3.1 to 6.9 hours.

What that means for your choice - again our own rule of thumb, not a manufacturer spec: if the tub can pre-cool overnight and one or two people use it, the Basic is plenty. If people dip several times a day, or the tub sits in a box or a studio, take the High Performance. It cools back down faster between two sessions - and that is what counts day to day.

500 L≤ 9.8 h≤ 6.9 h

All times apply to cooling from 23 to 5 °C.

Use case One or two people, pre-cooling overnight Several dips a day, box or studio, lots of water

Both units cool to the same target temperature - the difference is the pace. 500 litres go from 23 to 5 °C in a maximum of 6.9 hours with the High Performance instead of 9.8. If you can plan ahead and pre-cool overnight, you barely notice it. If you have to cool back down while the next person is already waiting, you notice it every session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which ice bath chiller do I need for my Iso Ice Bath Tub?
What decides it is how much time you give the cooling. If the tub can run overnight, the Basic is enough. If it has to come back down between two sessions on the same day, take the High Performance. Not sure? Get in touch with your tub size and your daily routine and we will look at the setup together.
How long does cooling take?
From 23 to 5 °C the Basic handles 200 litres in a maximum of 5.6 hours and 500 litres in a maximum of 9.8 hours. The High Performance sits at 3.1 and 6.9 hours respectively. If your water starts colder than 23 °C, it goes correspondingly faster.
Can the chiller heat as well?
Yes, the temperature range runs from 3 to 42 °C. That is a handy side benefit for the cold months - but do not plan on it as a substitute for a sauna or a hot bath.
Can I set the chiller up outdoors?
Both versions are rated IPX4 against splashing water from all sides. Not against jets of water and not against submersion. So outdoors, put it under a cover or in a sheltered spot and do not leave it standing in the rain permanently.
What do the ozone unit and the water filter do?
The external water filter holds back suspended particles, and the built-in OZONE unit is there for water care. Filter and water hose are included. What we are not promising you is a germ-free tub: checking your water and changing it regularly is still part of the deal.
How does control by app and WIFI work?
The chiller connects over WIFI, and you control it through the app for iOS and Android or with the included remote. Set the temperature, start the cooling - and when you get in, the water is already at your target.

Customer reviews

The point of a chiller is not the technology, it is that you actually get back into cold water regularly. As long as you have to go out and lug ice before every session, the routine quietly dies - that was exactly my sticking point. With a chiller you set the temperature once and the tub is ready when you have time. On which version to pick, I would not decide on paper. I would look honestly at when you dip: planned in the morning, or spontaneously whenever a gap opens up.
