Hybrid Racing equipment: how to train for HYROX
From the SkiErg and rowing to wall balls: HYROX is varied training, and it takes equally varied equipment. To help you perform at your best, you'll find the right gear for every station of the race with us. Our team includes CrossFit® box owners, the president of a weightlifting club, competitive athletes and people who run competitions – so we know what matters in high-quality training equipment. Put our years of experience and a reliable range to work on your way to new personal bests. We're happy to advise you and help you get more out of your HYROX training with the right equipment and accessories.
HYROX competition: what to expect
HYROX is a varied competition that combines endurance, strength and functional fitness. Athletes work through a set sequence of eight exercises, each separated by a 1 km run. In total, race day adds up to 8 km of running and 8 functional strength and fitness stations. These are the 8 stations combined with the runs: SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges and Wall Balls. The goal is to complete the whole distance and all stations in the shortest possible time. Getting the most out of a HYROX race takes a balanced mix of pacing strategy, endurance and strength – and you can't do without the key pieces of equipment.
Versatile equipment for your HYROX training
For HYROX athletes, we have the right training machines and accessories. Take the AssaultRunner Pro treadmill: it handles high-intensity sessions and gets you ready for the run intervals of a HYROX race. For the SkiErg station, you'll find the Concept2 SkiErg in our shop – it trains strength and endurance in one movement. For the sled push and pull, we carry the right rope and professional sleds built to be robust, durable and fully functional. Also take a look at the RowErg indoor rower, known as the world's best-selling rowing machine. And for the Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges and Wall Balls, we offer competition kettlebells, sandbags and medicine balls in a range of weights, plus practical wall ball targets.
Frequently asked questions about equipment for HYROX training
What is HYROX?
HYROX is a varied competition that combines endurance and strength training. Athletes complete 8 different stations, with a 1 km run before each one.
Which 8 stations make up HYROX?
At HYROX, the SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges and Wall Balls stations alternate with runs.
Which stations can I rebuild in my own gym?
Four of them one to one: a sled for push and pull, a sandbag for the lunges, competition kettlebells for the farmers carry, and a wall ball with a target mark. For the row you need a Concept2 RowErg – the same machine used at the race. That leaves the two running sections and the SkiErg. The full race format, stations and weights
Is this the same as CrossFit?
No. The race format is standardised – always the same eight stations in the same order, with a kilometre of running between each. CrossFit deliberately varies its workouts. The equipment overlaps, the training doesn't: here it's endurance under load across roughly 90 minutes, not a maximum single rep.
Which equipment for HYROX training can I buy at cross equip?
We have the right equipment for every HYROX station. Alongside larger machines such as treadmills, rowers and sleds, you'll also find practical accessories like ropes, kettlebells, medicine balls, sandbags and wall ball targets.
