When your hands are rough and dry after the WOD
You know the moment: the workout is done, you wash your hands – and your palms feel rough. The skin around the calluses is brittle, your fingers feel tight. At the next ring session, or on the first heavy deadlift, you feel every single one of those spots. Athletes Hero Hands balm is made for exactly those hands: hand care for CrossFit, climbing and everything that runs across your palms – as daily care, not as a repair job.
It moisturises, makes the skin supple again and lays a protective layer on top. The organic beeswax stays noticeable on your skin instead of vanishing straight away – that is the difference to a standard hand cream off the shelf. Even so, the balm sinks in quickly and leaves no greasy film on your keyboard or your handlebars. A customer from a box wrote to us that he uses it after training and again before bed – that is a routine we hear a lot around here.
What is in it – and what deliberately is not
The base is organic beeswax, aloe vera, shea butter and plant oils, plus vitamin E and B5. Not in it: silicones, mineral oils, parabens and microplastics. The formulation is dermatologically tested and works for sensitive skin too. The balm is made in Switzerland.
One point that often gets lost, which is why it stands here instead of in the small print: this balm is not vegan. Beeswax is the core of the recipe – without it there would be no protective layer, and that layer is the whole idea. If you shop vegan, this product is not for you, and we would rather tell you now than after the parcel arrives.
How to use it
A small amount is enough. Take it out of the tin with a finger, rub it between your palms and massage it in – best after washing your hands, or straight after training. The best moment is after a shower, when your skin is warm and takes it up easily. You can use it daily, several times if you want. What it does not belong on is open or inflamed skin – let that heal up first.
You get a 70 ml tin, black metal with a screw lid, the balm inside is cream-coloured. One more honest note before you buy: this item is excluded from returns. If you are unsure whether it is right for you, drop us a line first – that is sorted faster than you think.

For hands after a day at the desk, any hand cream does the job. But if you regularly hang off a barbell, off rings or off a fingerboard, the firmer balm suits you better – the beeswax stays on your skin as a layer instead of disappearing straight away. Hand care was a non-topic for me for years – until my hands looked so bad after a hard week of pull-ups and cleans that every grip hurt at the next session. Since then the tin sits at home next to the sink, not in my gym bag: on after the shower, again in the evening. I was not looking for a balm that smells of something, I was looking for one that stays on the skin. This one does. And if you shop vegan I have to disappoint you – there is beeswax in it, and there is no talking that away.
