Description

Cast iron weight plates for powerlifters and iron fans

Cast iron weight plates have been the standard in strength training for decades – with good reason. The classic clang on the bar, the solid feel of real metal – that's training atmosphere no rubber bumper can match. Our Iron Plates are noticeably more compact than rubber, cement or plastic plates. More compact iron means: more weight fits on your Olympic bar, you get more clearance on deadlifts, rows and squats, and the bar only starts to bend under genuinely heavy loads. The recessed grip handles make plate changes between sets quick and open up direct plate exercises: plate pinches, pullovers, French press, Russian twists or grip-strength training right with the plate.

Seven weights for clean progression

Available from 1.25 kg to 25 kg in seven increments – covering every micro-progression cleanly, without juggling magnet plates. From 20 kg upward, plates grow in thickness rather than diameter, keeping them manageable and the grip handles usable. The coating protects against corrosion for indoor training. Outdoor use means: wipe down after the session, or surface rust will form. Smaller rust spots come off easily with a cloth. What you get: weight plates that'll still serve your grandchild.

If you train powerlifting, classic strength work in your home gym or athletic studio – cast iron plates are the right pick. For Olympic lifts and CrossFit WODs with drops, you need bumper plates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I drop cast iron weight plates?
No. Cast iron isn't built for drops – you'll damage the floor, the plates and possibly the bar. If you want to drop (Olympic lifts, CrossFit), you need bumper plates.
Why are 20 kg and 25 kg the same diameter?
On heavy plates, thickness increases instead of diameter. Plates stay manageable, the grip handles remain usable, and the bar height on the rack stays consistent. A 25 kg bumper plate would be noticeably larger.
Will the plates fit my bar?
Yes, if your bar is Olympic standard (50 mm sleeves). That's the standard in strength training, CrossFit, powerlifting and functional training. Older home bars with 30 mm sleeves don't fit.
Can the plates rust?
With normal indoor training the coating reliably protects. Outdoor training, high humidity or storage in damp rooms can cause surface rust. After outdoor sessions: wipe down, store dry. Smaller rust spots come off easily with a cloth.
What do the recessed grips actually do for me?
Two things: faster plate changes between sets (you grab the handle, not the iron) and additional exercise options. Plate pinches for grip strength, pullovers, French press, Russian twists, crunches with the plate on your chest – all noticeably easier with handles.
Do you sell the plates individually or as a pair?
Individually. For a pair, order 2× of the same weight. When mixing different weights to build a progression, individual ordering is more practical than fixed sets.
Which weights do I need to start with?
A basic setup: 2× 10 kg, 2× 5 kg, 2× 2.5 kg, 2× 1.25 kg covers a 25 kg bar plus 37.5 kg extra weight. For heavier lifting, add 15, 20 and 25 kg in pairs.

Customer reviews

Cast iron weight plates are honest strength training. No fluff, no rubber wrap – just solid iron. We've had them in our Box for over 10 years for everything that doesn't get dropped: bench press, squats, rows, strict press, deadlift volume. The plates last forever and still look good after years. For powerlifters, for hobby lifters, for anyone who values the classic gym vibe – nothing beats cast iron.
