Description

Lie down instead of crouching in

Most ice baths force you into one position: sitting upright, knees pulled in, shoulders somehow pushed under water. The Oval Iso Ice Bath Tub takes the other route. Its length lets you stretch out like in a bathtub - legs straight, back flat, your whole body in the water. As an ice bath at home that also means nothing to connect and nothing to install permanently. Put it down, inflate it with the hand pump, fill it - and after the session the water runs out through the drain hose.

Which version fits you

The tub comes in two sizes. The 1-person version is the compact one: 132 cm long, 70 cm wide - that fits on most terraces and balconies. If you want an ice bath for 2 people, go with the large version at 185 cm. It is also worth a look on your own if you want more room and more water depth. Just factor this in honestly: more water means more ice and a longer cooling time.

One point many people underestimate: wherever the tub stands, the ground has to be level and load-bearing. Filled up, a bath like this carries serious weight - a terrace, a lawn or a solid basement floor are ideal, a wobbly wooden platform less so.

VersionDimensions (L × W × H)Use
1 person132 × 70 × 60 cmCompact, small footprint, less water and ice
2 people185 × 82.5 × 68.5 cmFor two, or on your own with more room and depth

Insulated wall, tight lid - and the chiller if you want it

An inflatable ice bath is not automatically a paddling pool. The walls are made of DWF (Double Wall Fabric) with PVC tarpaulin - and between them sit 8 cm of insulation made of air trapped in the material. That keeps the water cold noticeably longer, so you top up ice less often. The inflatable lid with its closure keeps the cold inside while the tub is not in use. The separate inlet and drain let you fill and empty it without tipping the tub over.

Cooling works the classic way with ice and cold water - that does the job, but it costs you a fresh supply every time. If you bathe regularly, pair the tub with the matching chiller, which brings the water down to 4 °C. It is not a must, but it is the convenient route for anyone getting in several times a week. Setting up and packing down stays just as simple either way: inflate without tools, manageable on your own, then let the air out, fold it up, into the backpack.

If you want to lie down and have your whole body flat in the water, take the oval tub - you need room lengthwise for that. For a narrow corner on a terrace or balcony the round one is the smarter call: upright entry, smaller footprint. Material, insulation and what comes in the box are the same on both.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the setup work?
Put the tub down, inflate it with the included hand pump, fill it through the inlet - done. You need no tools and no second person. To pack it down you let the water and the air out and fold it up.
Oval or round - which is better?
That depends on how you want to bathe. Oval means lying down: legs stretched out, your whole body flat in the water, and you need room lengthwise. Round means upright entry on a smaller footprint, with more height instead. Both are built the same way.
Do I really need a chiller?
No. Cold water and ice get you there without any trouble - the 8 cm of insulation hold the cold longer than a plain tub. The chiller brings the water down to 4 °C and is the long-term answer if you bathe regularly and are done with hauling ice.
Can I use the tub outside and in winter?
Outside is the normal case - garden, terrace, balcony. All that matters is a level, load-bearing surface. Below freezing, drain the water after your session instead of leaving it standing overnight: you do not want water freezing inside the wall. When it is not in use, keep the lid on.
How often do I change the water and how do I look after the tub?
How often depends on use and how many people get in - go by eye and by smell. To change it, drain the water through the outlet and wipe out the inner wall. The one thing that matters is that the tub is completely dry before you fold it up and pack it away.
How do I transport and store it?
Air out, fold it up, into the included backpack - then it fits in a cupboard, a car boot or your training camp luggage. The repair kit comes along in case something happens on the road.

Customer reviews

I spent a long time crouching upright in a barrel telling myself it made no difference. It does. The moment you can lie down and your shoulders are under water by themselves, the whole thing gets calmer - you stop fighting your position and only deal with the cold. If you have the room lengthwise, take the oval one.
