Sandbag alternative for serious functional training
The RAM is a cylindrical weight made from recycled rubber – developed by Irish manufacturer RAMfit for everything you'd otherwise do with a sandbag, wallball or medicine ball, just tougher, drop-proof and with no sand to worry about. You can throw it, drop it, shoulder it, press it overhead, run with it in a carry or use it as a weight on your chest for push-ups. The cylindrical shape with two open ends gives you multiple grip options – at the end, in the middle, or with your hands inside the openings for more stable carries. Exactly what DEKA training, HIIT intervals, hybrid WODs and HYROX prep demand in daily box use.
Foam roller built in – training and recovery in one
The hollow cylinder shape isn't just a grip feature. After your session, you can use the RAM straight away as a foam roller – quads, IT band, upper back, calves. The rubber surface gives you the right firmness for deep-tissue rolling, so you don't need a second recovery tool. In our pre-launch testing this worked out: one tool for the conditioning section and for the cool-down. Handy when you're running outdoor sessions too – the RAM works indoor and outdoor and doesn't care about concrete or grass.
Pressed from one piece – no seam, no closure
100% recycled material from the rubber industry, pressure-moulded, with no seam or closure. There's nothing that can open up, leak or tear – unlike the classic sandbag, which usually starts losing sand after 18 months of box use. RAMfit markets the tool with the claim "1 Million Reps Guaranteed" – and that's exactly how the RAM feels in your hand. Small visual imperfections like minor cracks or surface marks are part of the manufacturing process and the recycled material, and don't affect function or lifespan.

The right choice depends on your training. For pure technique and entry-level work, 5 or 10 kg is enough. If you train DEKA or build HYROX volume, go for 15–20 kg. 25–30 kg is the upper end for heavy carries, cleans and strongman hybrid work. In most boxes, three weights run in parallel – one light, one medium, one heavy – so every athlete can train.
