Description

Twenty minutes in, the sleeve is heading for your calf

You know the moment. The sweat runs, the neoprene gives, and the sleeve slides towards your calf centimetre by centimetre. Between sets you pull it back up instead of thinking about the next lift. That is exactly what the inside of this sleeve is built for.

Sitting there is a continuous silicone layer in a honeycomb structure, across the whole surface rather than as a narrow strip at the hem. The honeycombs carry embossed cross equip lettering. The structure grips on the skin and holds the sleeve where you pulled it to. That is the entire point of the product – beyond it, what you have in your hand is a cleanly made 5 mm sleeve.

Smooth outside, grippy inside – and 5 mm that move with you

From the outside the Sticky is a plain black sleeve, smooth neoprene with a white cross equip logo. The cut is contoured: the shape follows the bend of the knee, which is why the sleeve does not throw folds into the back of your knee down in the bottom position.

The 5 mm are a deliberate choice. They give you compression and keep the joint warm without slowing you down in flexion. For long, mixed sessions that is the thickness you keep on across squats, cleans, lunges and wall balls. If you want noticeably more push-back on heavy single sets, your way leads to 7 mm – which in turn restrict you more on high rep counts.

Care is quickly told: wash at 30 °C, no fabric softener, then let them dry in the air. They need nothing beyond that. They are sold as a pair – so one order covers both knees.

Which size fits you?

You measure on the leg, not on the sleeve: bend the knee slightly, put the tape 10 cm below the kneecap, read off the circumference. Then look for that number in the table:

SizeCircumference 10 cm below the kneecap
XSUnder 35 cm
S35–36 cm
M37–38 cm
L39–41 cm
XL42–44 cm

If your number falls into a gap between two ranges, say at 36.5 cm, go up to the next size.

One point causes more wrong orders here than anything else: the Sticky is measured further down the leg than our neoprene line. On the Knee Sleeves Neopren 5mm the tape runs around the slightly bent knee itself, on the Sticky it sits ten centimetres lower. The letters therefore do not carry across, even though both lines run from XS to XL. And something plenty of people underestimate: the silicone layer does not rescue a size that is too wide. It only grips once the neoprene is lying against you anyway. Not sure about your number? Send it over and we will place you.

Best for When your sleeve wanders down once you sweat When it sits where it should anyway

If your sleeve slides down during training, take this one – that is what the silicone layer is for. If yours still sits after the fifth set, you do not need it and are just as well served by the Knee Sleeves Neopren 5mm. Either way, do one thing: put the tape on again, the two lines do not share a measuring point.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure for the right size?
Bend the knee slightly and measure the circumference 10 cm below the kneecap. Then look for your range: XS under 35 cm, S 35–36, M 37–38, L 39–41, XL 42–44 cm. If your measurement lands in a gap between them, take the next size up.
I wear M in your neoprene sleeves – is that a good enough guide?
As a guide yes, as a basis for ordering no. The neoprene line is measured at the top, around the slightly bent knee, the Sticky a good stretch further down – two heights on the leg, two numbers. Putting the tape on once more takes thirty seconds and saves you a return.
Do they really not slip?
That is the job of the silicone honeycomb structure, and it covers the complete inside – not just a band at the hem, the way you know it from plenty of sleeves. It grips where it sits directly on the skin. If you otherwise spend the whole session pulling them back up, you will notice the difference in the first session.
Do I get one sleeve or two?
Two. The Sticky is sold as a pair, one purchase covers both knees.
Are they allowed in competition?
Let us start with CrossFit: there is no list of permitted equipment there, so the question does not arise. Powerlifting under IPF rules is a different matter. What is asked for is a sleeve made from a single layer of neoprene, and an applied silicone layer sits awkwardly in that picture. On top of that the IPF runs a list of approved manufacturers, and cross equip is not on it. That makes the Sticky a sleeve for training. What applies to your start is told to you by the rulebook of your federation.
How do I wash them?
Into the machine at 30 °C, no fabric softener, then leave them to dry in the air. That is it.

Customer reviews

I first put the Sticky out for the summer days when everything in the hall goes tacky – since then I hardly pull on anything else. Not because they give more support, 5 mm are 5 mm. But because after the third set I simply have not touched them yet. Honestly: anyone who does not know the sliding-down problem does not need them. Anyone who does know it never hands them back.
