The session where you keep dropping into a squat
Wall balls, box jumps, thrusters, a few sets of squats in between – in a session like that your knee goes deep and back up a hundred times. That is exactly where it gets decided whether a sleeve helps or annoys you. Too much material bunches up behind the knee the moment you are deep, and on every single rep you feel a resistance you never ordered.
The 5 mm is cut for precisely this kind of training. Thin enough that you drop into the squat freely, thick enough that the joint stays warm and the compression is noticeable. If your training day is built from lots of reps and changing movements rather than three heavy sets, this is the thickness you want. If you spend the whole day in the squat rack looking for maximum push-back, reach for the Knee Sleeves Neopren 7 mm instead.
Black, contoured seams, smooth on the inside
Structurally this is the same knee support as the 7 mm version, only in thinner neoprene. Black, edges bound, the white cross equip logo sitting low on the outside. Curved shaping seams pre-form the bend of the knee – so it lies against you in flexion instead of folding up. A woven logo band runs along the inner hem; otherwise the inside is smooth.
Which also means: there is no anti-slip layer built in here. On long, sweaty sessions a sleeve can wander – if that sounds familiar, have a look at the Sticky Knee Sleeves 5mm with their silicone inner face. And one more thing that regularly prompts questions: you get a pair here, so both knees are covered. No need to order twice.
Which size fits you – and why an M is not always an M
Measuring happens at the knee itself: stand up, put one leg forward and bend the knee to about 20 degrees. Then run the tape around the mid-knee circumference. Then look for that number in the table:
| Size | Mid-knee circumference |
|---|---|
| XS | 30–33 cm |
| S | 33–35 cm |
| M | 35–37 cm |
| L | 37–40 cm |
| XL | 40–44 cm |
If you land exactly on a boundary value, just ask – we will tell you which of the two sizes we would send you.
And now the point that causes the most wrong purchases in this category: every line measures at a different spot. Our Knee Sleeves work from the mid-knee circumference, the Sticky and every Rehband model from the circumference 10 cm below the kneecap. That makes the number ranges look similar, but they do not mean the same thing. If you switch from one line to the other, measure again – your M from before is no guarantee of an M here.

The difference sits on the inside. If a sleeve you pull back up now and then is fine by you, take this one. If sweat sends your sleeves sliding down every time, the Sticky Knee Sleeves 5mm solve that. Important either way: measure again, the two lines measure at different spots.

Customer reviews
In our box both thicknesses sit on the shelf, and people reach for the 5 mm far more often. The reason is simple: on a day with wall balls, box jumps and thrusters you do not want to fight your own material on every rep. I pull out the 7 mm when heavy squats are coming – for everything in between I put on the 5 mm and never think about them again for the rest of the session.
