Five weights that cover your training together
A kettlebell set takes the starting-weight question off your plate – you have all five right there: 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 kg, 80 kg together. The 8 is your learning tool: build clean technique for swings and get-ups, plus presses where you hit your limit fast. 12 and 16 kg are the working weights that carry most swings and goblet squats. And once the strength is there, you go at heavy swings, cleans and carries with 20 and 24 kg.
That covers everything from your first training day to the advanced athlete. In the box the spread pays off twice over – several people train at the same time, each with the weight that fits them.
The ball grows with the weight – and that's by design
Worth knowing before you buy: cast iron bells get bulkier with every step up in weight. The 8 measures 11.5 cm across, the 24 measures 17.5 cm. The handle goes from 3.2 to 3.6 cm along with it. Competition kettlebells, by contrast, keep ball and handle identical across all weights.
That's not a flaw, it's a different philosophy. Cast iron is the classic kettlebell type and the most used one – for most athletes the right way in. You see at a glance from the volume which bell you're grabbing, and the thicker handle on the heavy weights trains your grip along the way. If you're after competition technique with identical handling every time, the road leads to the competition series. Both work – the only question is what you want to train.
| Weight | Ball diameter | Handle diameter | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 kg | 11.5 cm | 3.2 cm | Learning technique, presses, Turkish get-ups |
| 12 kg | 13.5 cm | 3.4 cm | First working weight for swings and goblet squats |
| 16 kg | 15.5 cm | 3.5 cm | Standard working weight for swings, cleans, snatches |
| 20 kg | 16.5 cm | 3.6 cm | Heavy swings, cleans, front rack squats |
| 24 kg | 17.5 cm | 3.6 cm | Heavy swings, carries, grip work |
Five bells need a fixed spot
Five kettlebells aren't small change – they need a fixed spot in the room. Lined up along the wall works fine in the home gym, the bells stand safely on their own. If you want to keep the floor clear, a kettlebell rack is the cleaner solution: all five together, visible, at grab height.

Powder Coated vs. Competition Kettlebell
| Criterion | Powder Coated Kettlebell | Competition Kettlebell |
|---|---|---|
| Ball size | Grows with the weight (11.5–17.5 cm) | Constant across all weights |
| Handle diameter | Grows along (3.2–3.6 cm) | Constant across all weights |
| Material / surface | Cast iron, powder coated | Steel |
| Typical use | Swings, goblet squats, carries, WODs | Competition technique, long sets |
| Way in | The classic, most used type | When you train for competition |
For most people cast iron is the right start – grippy, robust, and the growing ball doesn't get in the way of normal training. If you train for competition and want the same handling in your hand every time, take the Competition Kettlebell Set Basic. Both roads are clean – they just lead to different goals.

Customer reviews
When someone asks me what to start kettlebell training with, the answer is rarely a single bell. You need a light one to learn technique and a heavy one to work towards. That's exactly what this set is. And yes, the ball gets bigger with the weight – you notice it when you switch. For everything except competition technique that's a non-issue, and it has been in our box for years.
