Description

When space is tight, the footprint decides

Balcony, corner of the garage, side room in the studio – there is rarely space for a tub that runs close to two metres long. The Round Iso Ice Bath Tub solves that through height instead of length: an ice barrel in the literal sense, only inflatable. It stands on roughly one square metre and is 103 cm tall. You climb in and submerge upright – shoulders under water, legs bent, without having to lie down. For everyone who wants a cold water routine but can't clear the floor space for one.

One person or two – the difference is the diameter

Both versions are the same height and differ only in diameter. The 1-person version measures 95 × 95 cm and is the narrow answer if you bathe alone and need every centimetre. The 2-person version is only 15 cm wider at 110 × 110 cm, but gives you noticeably more room to move – for two, or for one if you don't want to feel wedged in. What you take on with it: the larger diameter wants to be filled and cooled down as well. Plan for more ice and more lead time with the big version.

Why the water stays cold longer

The wall packs 8 cm of insulationDWF (Double Wall Fabric), PVC tarpaulin and air trapped in between, working as a buffer against the outside temperature. Whenever you're not in it, the inflatable lid with its fastener belongs on top. For water in and water out there is a separate inlet and outlet – the barrel stays where it stands, you don't have to tip it or bail it out. Setting it up takes neither tools nor a second person: put it down, bring it into shape with the included hand pump, fill it. After the season: air out, fold it, backpack shut.

Two points are worth thinking through before you buy. First the spot: filled, a tub like this puts its entire water weight onto barely one square metre, so you need level ground that takes it – terrace, garage floor or a solid balcony. Second, getting in: 103 cm is a high edge, and you climb over it twice per bath. A folding stool next to it makes that a lot more relaxed, especially when you get back out wet and chilled. Cooling runs on cold water and ice – if you want to get in several times a week, hook up the matching chiller that brings the water down to 4 °C.

Both are built the same – the difference is your position in the water and the space you need for it. Corner, balcony or a narrow side room: then the round one. If you want to stretch out and have the two metres free, go for the oval tub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Round or oval – which shape suits me?
Measure your spot first. If you have a free corner but not two metres of wall, only the round one works – and you bathe upright instead of lying down. If you have the length free and prefer to stretch out, take the oval.
Does the round tub fit on a balcony?
Usually yes, and that is exactly what sets a round tub apart from a long one: the 1-person version needs 95 × 95 cm, the 2-person version 110 × 110 cm. What matters is level ground that carries the weight of the filled tub.
How do I get in and out at 103 cm?
You climb over the rim. It works, but it is a high step – especially at the end of a session. Put a folding stool next to it and you take two controlled steps instead of one big one.
Is the chiller worth it, or is ice enough?
Ice and cold water are enough, that is what the tub is built for, and the 8 cm of insulation stretch the time until you top up. The chiller solves a different problem: it brings the water down to 4 °C without you buying and hauling ice. If you bathe rarely, you don't need it.
Can I leave the tub outside in winter?
Leave it standing, yes; leave it full over winter, no. As soon as it drops below zero, you hang up the outlet after your bath and empty the basin – a frozen block of water has no business inside an inflatable wall. When it is not in use the lid goes on, so leaves and dirt stay out of the basin.
How does the water get out and the tub into the backpack?
Drain the water through the outlet, wipe out the inner wall. The order matters: let it dry completely first, then let the air out and fold it – packed away damp, it will smell next time. Folded, it fits into the included backpack, and the repair kit is there for the day you need it.

Customer reviews

There are no two metres of wall at my place that I could sacrifice for an ice bath – and most people are in the same boat. Our round tub stands in the corner like a barrel and hardly stands out until you need it. Stand in it, shoulders under water, head above. That is all it takes. Only getting out is easier with a stool next to you, and you will notice that by the second session at the latest.
