The padding your gym floor doesn't have
The TPE mat is a fitness mat with a 15 mm build – made for everything that happens down on the floor. Knees, elbows and hips get a soft base instead of starting to ache two minutes into a position. That's exactly why it works where thin material runs out of road: mobility work, stretching, bodyweight drills and rehab training.
At 180 x 60 cm you have enough surface to stretch out full length without your head or feet landing next to it. For balance work on the floor too – quadruped holds, side planks, single-leg hip work – the thickness gives you a comfortable base. In our box they sit ready for the mobility blocks after training, and for physios they're the obvious choice on a hard floor.
Honestly: not a classic yoga mat
Classic yoga mats are 3 to 6 mm thin – and for good reason. If you're standing in warrior or want to hold a clean tree pose, you need ground feel, not padding. On a thick mat the surface gives way under your foot, and you notice that in every demanding standing pose.
So if you're after a mat for ambitious yoga flows or hot yoga, this isn't it – thin and close to the ground is the right call there. But if you want a training mat that looks after your joints while you work on the floor, the thickness fits perfectly. That's what it's built for: recovery, mobility, work on the floor.
Embossed surface, hard-wearing material
The top side carries an embossed woven pattern that delivers the grip you need – your hands stay where you put them. The corners are rounded. Rolled out, the mat lies flat and doesn't curl up at the edges.
The TPE material (thermoplastic elastomers) is hard-wearing and wipes clean with a damp cloth after the session, or with a mild disinfectant in studio use. What it doesn't have: eyelets for hanging. To dry it, lay it out flat or drape it over a crossbeam – and only roll it up once it's properly dry.
Cappucino or black – same mat, different look
The colour is the only decision you have to make here. Dimensions, thickness, material and surface are identical on both variants: 180 x 60 cm, 15 mm, TPE, embossed woven pattern. Cappucino is the light beige tone, with a darker bottom side – so you can see at a glance which side goes up. Black appears solid and stays discreet in the room.
One thing you notice in practice: light dust shows up faster on the black mat, dark scuff marks faster on the light one. You clean both just as often – you just spot the moment for it sooner or later.

Thick training mat (15 mm) vs. thin yoga mat (3–6 mm)
| Criterion | TPE Mat (15 mm) | Thin yoga mat (3–6 mm) |
|---|---|---|
| Padding for knees and elbows | High – the whole point of the thickness | Low, noticeable on a hard floor |
| Ground feel when standing | Damped, the surface gives way | Direct, you're basically on the floor |
| Standing poses and balance | Wobblier, not its strength | Clearly better – built for it |
| Long positions on the floor | Comfortable over many minutes | Gets hard over time |
| Rehab and mobility work | Its core job | Possible, but little cushioning |
| Rolled size and transport | Bulkier when rolled | Compact, easy to take along |
| Typical use | Floor, mobility and rehab training | Yoga flows, standing asanas, hot yoga |
If your work happens on the floor – mobility, stretching, rehab, bodyweight – the thick mat is the right one. If you want to stand close to the ground and line up cleanly in balance poses, a thin yoga mat serves you better. We'll say it straight: this is not a yoga mat for ambitious flows. It's padding for everything that happens on knees, elbows or your back.

Customer reviews
For a long time I thought a mat is a mat. Until I spent ten minutes in pigeon pose on a thin one after a session and could think of nothing but my knee afterwards. Since then the thick ones sit ready in our box – for everything that happens on the floor. Only for standing yoga do I still reach for the thin one. Honest is honest.
