The handle weight makes the difference
A jump rope with plastic handles sits in your hand almost weightless. You turn, the rope turns with you – but you don't really feel where it is right now. That's exactly where the Aluminium Deluxe Jump Rope comes in: the handles are made of aluminium and therefore noticeably heavier than plastic. That extra weight isn't a drawback, it's the whole point.
You feel the rotation in your hand. And anyone training Double Unders knows how much that's worth – doubles rarely fail because of strength, they fail on timing. One customer put it like this: the weight of the handles helps him develop the right form for Double Unders. That's exactly what this rope is built for.
The handles are knurled – a milled diamond pattern like on a barbell. No rubber, no coating that peels off at some point. The grip comes from the material itself and it still works when your hands are wet after the third round. With 15 cm of grip surface you also get around one and a half centimetres more room than on the Deluxe: you place your hand where it works for you.
Built for continuous studio use
Milled aluminium barely wears down. That's the second reason this rope runs so well for us – it holds up in places where it isn't always the same person picking up the rope: classes, studio, box. Coated handles can come loose or turn sticky over time. Here there's no coating that could do that – the grip sits in the material.
Ball bearings sit at the cable mount. They run smoothly, the rope turns true and doesn't break rhythm. The 3 mm thick steel cable with a red plastic sheath deliberately isn't the thinnest on the market – it brings enough mass for you to feel the arc, and it's robust enough for daily use.
You set the length with two set screws: pull the cable through, adjust it to your height, tighten. After that you trim the excess with side cutters – or leave it on for now, until the length really fits. This is the rope for people who can already skip and want gear that doesn't give in.

Customer reviews
With doubles, no amount of extra strength helps you – what helps is the feel for where the rope is right now. With the alu handles you feel that in your hand, and for me that was exactly what made the difference. Plus the grip sits in the milled aluminium itself. There's no coating that can come loose at some point: the handle feels the same on the hundredth session as on the first.
