Description

The weighted jump rope of our line-up

A weighted jump rope changes every single jump. The Premium Jump Rope is the heavy rope of our line-up – in two ways at once. The cable measures 3.4 mm instead of the usual 3 mm, and the handles can be filled with extra weight. More mass means more resistance for forearms and shoulders.

The second effect is the one customers report back to us: you feel much more clearly where the rope is. A light cable disappears into thin air, a heavy one gives you feedback with every rotation. That's exactly why boxers have always worked with heavy ropes – rhythm, shoulders and forearms in one warm-up.

This is a rope for conditioning work, for warming up and for everyone who wants to jump with resistance on purpose. If you're chasing personal bests on double unders, a light speed rope serves you better.

A grip that holds – a cable that takes it

The handles are wrapped with a perforated grip tape in anthracite – like the overgrip on a tennis racket. That's exactly where many ropes fail: after ten minutes your hands are wet and the smooth plastic handle twists away. Here you keep your grip. With 13.5 cm of handle length you have room for any hand position.

Inside run hi-speed ball bearings – the cable turns freely without twisting up. The steel cable sits in a PVC coating and doesn't mind rough ground. One customer reported back that it doesn't wear down as fast on concrete. Concrete leaves its mark on every rope – with a thick cable it simply takes longer.

You set the length with the gold-coloured set screw on the handle head. Pull the cable through, adjust it to your height, tighten it. You then trim the excess with side cutters – or leave it on for now in case somebody else jumps with it too.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much weight can I put in the handles?
The handles are built to be filled – how much you put in is up to you. Start with a little and add more as soon as the rotation starts to feel too easy. The only thing that matters is that both handles weigh the same, otherwise your rhythm goes off.
Is the rope also suitable for double unders?
Yes, but it isn't built for them. The thick cable turns slower than a speed rope – if you jump cleanly, you'll still get the doubles. If you're chasing times, a light competition rope is the better choice.
How do I adjust the length and can I shorten the cable?
Stand with one foot on the middle of the cable – the handles should end at about chest height. To adjust, loosen the set screw on the handle head, pull the cable to the right length and tighten it again. You can trim the excess with side cutters. Leave it on for a few sessions until the length really fits – cutting only works once. If several people jump with the rope, the excess is handy anyway.
Does the cable hold up on concrete or asphalt?
Better than a thin rope. From practice we got the feedback that the cable doesn't give in as fast on concrete. That's no promise – rough ground eats every jump rope eventually. If you jump almost exclusively outdoors, the Beads Jump Rope serves you better.
What does the wrapped grip tape do for me?
It grips even when your hands are wet. That's exactly where smooth plastic handles slip away. During long sets, in boxing training or in summer you notice the difference right away.
Is this rope right for boxing training?
That's exactly where it plays to its strength. The heavy cable holds the rhythm even when your arms get tired – you have to drive the rotation less. And with filled handles, your forearms and shoulders are already warm before you go to the bag.

Customer reviews

I thought for a long time that lighter is always better. Until I noticed after a boxing session how much work a heavy rope does – forearms and shoulders are awake after five minutes. And you feel the rope instead of searching for it. For everything that isn't competition doubles, this is the one I reach for today.
