Description

The jump rope for adults that simply works

Not a kids' toy, not a specialist competition tool – the Deluxe Jump Rope is the all-rounder for adults. The rope you grab when you want to warm up, work your conditioning or just get a few rounds in without thinking about gear first.

The 3 mm cable is the compromise that makes the most sense day to day: thick enough to hold its shape and give you feedback, thin enough to run quick. A ball bearing sits at the cable mount – the cable spins along cleanly instead of twisting up inside the handle. Anyone who has jumped with a rope without bearings knows the difference after thirty seconds.

It's our best-selling standard rope, and the reason is rarely the technology. It's the length: you can change it in under a minute. When three people of different heights jump at home, or everyone in the box grabs a rope off the hook, that's exactly the point that counts.

Setting the length – the rule of thumb

Adjustment runs through two set screws. Loosen the screws, pull the cable through, tighten them again – done, no tools needed. The rule of thumb for the right length: stand with one foot on the middle of the cable and pull the handles up. They should end at about chest height.

That works well for most adults. If you jump fast, go a bit shorter; if you're just starting out, leave it a little longer and work your way down. The cable is 3 m long – with room to spare, even for tall athletes.

You can trim the excess with side cutters if the ends bother you. Our advice: jump a few sessions with your set length first. Cut is cut – and if someone else jumps with it tomorrow, that spare length is worth gold.

Handles that match the movement

The handles are made of black hard plastic with a 2 mm wall thickness – light in the hand and still solid. At 15.5 cm total length you get 13.5 cm of pure gripping surface, enough room even for large hands.

More important than the material is the shape: the handle tapers from 2.4 cm down to 1.4 cm – a full centimetre of reduction across the gripping surface. Fuller at the back, clearly slimmer at the front. That way it sits stable in your hand while the spin comes from the wrist instead of the whole arm. That's exactly how rope jumping should work.

And when the cable is eventually done, you swap it: replacement cables are available separately, in eight colours. The handles stay.

Frequently Asked Questions

What body height does this rope fit?
Pretty much any. The cable is 3 m long and is set via the set screws – from short to very tall, it's all covered. Rule of thumb: stand with one foot on the middle of the cable, the handles should end at about chest height.
How do I set the length?
Loosen the set screws, pull the cable through to the length you want, tighten the screws again. It takes less than a minute and needs no tools. That's exactly the point our customers mention most often.
Do I have to cut off the excess?
No. You can trim it with side cutters if it bothers you. We recommend jumping a few sessions first – and if several people use the same rope, better to leave the excess on entirely.
Can several people use the same rope?
Yes, that's what it's made for. Because the length can be changed without tools, it's the typical rope for households with several jumpers and for boxes where everyone pulls a rope out of the box.
Is it good for double unders?
Yes – that's what it gets bought for most often here. The ball bearing keeps the cable running round even at high speed, and the 3 mm forgive more mistakes while you're learning than a hair-thin cable. Only once you move on to triple unders and competition pace does a thinner competition rope like the VRT Elite Speed Rope pay off – 2 mm cable, built for speed.
What surface can I jump on?
Smooth surfaces work best: gym floor, hall, mat. On asphalt or rough concrete the coating wears down faster. If you regularly jump outdoors, a beads rope is the tougher choice.
What do I do when the cable is eventually done?
Replacement cables are available separately in eight colours. Swap the cable, set the length again, off you go – you keep the handles.

Customer reviews

Exactly these ropes hang on the wall in our box. Not the fastest, not the most specialised – but the ones where nobody fails the warm-up because the rope is too long. Loosen two screws, adjust quickly, jump. If you're looking for a rope that fits you and everyone else in the room, this is it.
