Eight weights, and no gap in between
Anyone looking to buy a kettlebell set runs into the same question: where do I start, and where does it stop? The Basic Set answers both at once – 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 kg, one of each, 144 kg together. There are always 4 kg between two bells. So the next step up is never a jump into nothing.
The 4 kg gets underrated. It's the tool for mobility, for warm-ups and for learning the Turkish get-up – nobody wants something heavy over their head on day one. In rehab and rotational work it's the added load that's just enough. At the other end sit 28 and 32 kg for heavy swings, cleans and farmer carries. Those two ends are exactly what the smaller Starter Set is missing.
Why the 32 is nearly twice the size of the 4
One thing that stands out more in a set than on a single bell: with cast iron the ball grows with every step up. 8.5 cm across on the 4, 19.5 cm on the 32. The handle goes from 2.7 cm to 3.6–3.8 cm on the heavy bells. Competition kettlebells do it differently – there, ball and handle stay identical across all weights.
That's construction, not quality. Switching from the 4 to the 32 you feel the difference more clearly than anywhere else – in the swing, in the goblet squat, in the WOD it makes no difference at all. You even grab more surely, because the volume tells you straight away which bell is in your hand. If you train competition technique and need the same handling at every weight, the competition series is the right road.
| Weight | Ball diameter | Handle diameter | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 kg | 8.5 cm | 2.7 cm | Mobility, warm-up, get-up technique |
| 8 kg | 11.5 cm | 3.2 cm | Presses, halos, first swings |
| 12 kg | 13.5 cm | 3.4 cm | First working weight for swings |
| 16 kg | 15.5 cm | 3.5 cm | Everyday swings, cleans, snatches |
| 20 kg | 16.5 cm | 3.6 cm | Goblet squats, cleans, longer sets |
| 24 kg | 17.5 cm | 3.6 cm | Heavy swings, front rack squats |
| 28 kg | 18.5 cm | 3.8 cm | Heavy swings, grip work, heavy cleans |
| 32 kg | 19.5 cm | 3.6 cm | Heaviest swings, cleans, farmer carries |
Where to put 144 kg of cast iron
144 kg spread over eight kettlebells – that's not something you park in a corner on the way past. The bells stand safely on their own, but scattered across the floor they turn into a trip hazard and you go hunting at every switch. It runs cleaner with a Kettlebell Storage Rack: all eight on two levels, floor clear. In the home gym a stretch of wall does the job too – reckon with a good metre and a half of length.

Customer reviews
You see it in our box every day: everyone writes the 4 off as a toy until they've got it over their head in a get-up. And nobody touches the 32 until the day comes when it suddenly sits right. That's exactly why I like this set – it leaves both ends open. You won't be reordering in a year because something's missing at the top or the bottom.
