Description

V-shaped tricep bar for pushdowns

The Triceps Press Down Bar is a tricep pushdown bar in a V-shape. Both grips run down at an angle from the eyelet at the tip, so your hands sit close and angled instead of flat side by side. Whether this position or a straight bar suits you better for triceps pushdowns is personal – plenty of people switch between both. At the low pulley you also use the V-bar for close-grip rows.

Rigid build, plates at the ends

The bar has no swivel: grips and eyelet are fixed to each other. The grips have a textured surface, and at each end sits a flat plate that keeps your hand on the grip. If you'd rather push with a straight bar and a revolving center, take the Revolving 20'' straight bar.

Triceps Press Down Bar vs. Revolving 20'' straight bar

Criterion Triceps Press Down Bar Revolving 20'' straight bar
Shape V Straight
Hand position Close, angled towards each other Flat, overhand or underhand
Width 31 cm 50 cm
Attachment Rigid Revolving center
Grip ends Flat plates Thickened end caps

For triceps pushdowns with a close, angled grip, the V-shape is the right tricep bar. Need a bar that handles curls as well? Then the straight 20'' bar is more versatile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the tricep bar come with a carabiner?
No, a carabiner isn't included. Clip the eye at the tip into the carabiner on your cable machine. If you need one: Small Attachment Carabiner.
What's the difference between a V-grip and a straight bar?
On the V-grip your hands sit close and angled towards each other, on the straight bar flat side by side. For triceps pushdowns it's a matter of taste – try both.
What are the dimensions of the V-grip?
31 cm wide, and each grip is 11 cm long and 3.2 cm thick.
Can I use the tricep V-bar for rows too?
Yes, at the low pulley for close-grip seated rows. For fully parallel palms, reach for the Low Pully Bar.
What are the plates at the ends for?
They close off the grip on the outside and keep your hands on it when you spread them apart at the bottom.
Which handles go well with the tricep bar?
For single-arm triceps pushdowns, the Single Grip Rotating Handle. You'll find every other attachment under Cable Attachments.

Customer reviews
