Description

The difference you feel on heavy lifts

The Weightlifting Competition Bar is for anyone serious about Olympic lifting. The difference to an all-rounder bar: flexible spring steel that works with you during heavy cleans and snatches. The whip – the bar's elasticity – stores energy you can use during the turnover or standing up. This isn't marketing, you feel it on every heavy lift. Add to that aggressive knurling that holds even with sweaty hands and max attempts. The IWF markings show you exactly where your hands belong – for snatch, clean and jerk.

IWF Standard: Built for competition and training

This bar meets all International Weightlifting Federation standards. Exactly 20 kg, 220 cm length, 28 mm grip diameter – the same specs you'll find at competition. The chrome-plated spring steel withstands a tensile strength of 216,000 PSI. If you're aiming for competitions or simply want to train with the same equipment as the pros, this is the right bar. We use it ourselves in our box – for everything involving snatch and clean & jerk.

For serious Olympic lifting – whether training or competition – there's no way around a real weightlifting bar. The whip and fast rotation make the difference on snatch and clean & jerk. For CrossFit WODs with mixed movements, a multisports bar is the more flexible choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a specialized weightlifting bar?
The training feel differs significantly from an all-rounder bar. The flexible spring steel gives you an extra bounce (whip) on heavy lifts that you can use to your advantage. If you train Olympic lifting – especially with competition goals – you want to train with the equipment you'll use in competition.
What exactly does "whip" mean?
Whip refers to the bar's elasticity. During heavy cleans or snatches, the bar bends slightly and stores elastic energy. You can use this energy during the turnover. The heavier the load, the more you feel the difference.
Isn't the aggressive knurling uncomfortable?
For high-rep WODs it can be. For Olympic lifting with few, heavy reps it's exactly right – it gives you maximum grip at max attempts.
Is this bar also suitable for CrossFit?
For pure Olympic lifting workouts, absolutely. For mixed WODs with many reps, a multisports bar is often more comfortable. Many boxes have both – the competition bar for technique and strength work, the multisports bar for MetCons.
Is there a women's version?
Yes. The Weightlifting Competition Bar for women is shorter (201 cm) and lighter (15 kg) – according to IWF standards for women's competitions. The grip diameter at 25 mm is also slimmer.
What distinguishes a real competition bar from no-name bars?
Precision. Real competition bars have exact weights (not "approx. 20 kg"), high-quality needle bearings for fast rotation, and spring steel for proper whip. Inferior bars feel stiff and have sluggish sleeves.

Customer reviews

For Olympic lifting, this bar is my first choice. The whip, the grip, the rotation – everything's right. When you train snatch and clean & jerk seriously, you notice the difference to an all-rounder bar immediately. The bar works with you, not against you.
