Description

Until now the rings hung in the box

You know the movements long since: ring rows in the warm-up, dips in the WOD, at some point the first muscle-up. The rings just always hung somewhere else – in the box rig, in the gym hall, at your coach's place. Now you want them on your own beam or on a ceiling anchor at home. And you need surprisingly little for that: a pair of rings, two straps and two load-bearing points above you. That is exactly what is in this package.

The number you need before you drill is the anchor spacing: 50 to 60 centimetres between the two hanging points. Hang them much wider apart and the rings pull you outwards on dips and ring push-ups. Hang them too close and you cannot get through cleanly when you re-grip. Once that spacing is set, it covers nearly the whole ring spectrum – from ring rows and push-ups through dips and L-sits to the muscle-up. And what works on the rig works just the same on a ceiling anchor in the basement or on a thick branch outside.

Rings, straps, cam buckle – there is nothing more to it

Wood feels different in the hand than coated steel: it stays dry, warms up under your palm and forgives sweaty hands better. The grip measures 31 mm – thick enough that the rings sit solidly in your hand, thin enough that you do not cut a long set short because of your grip. You get two rings, each with its own strap, already threaded.

The strap runs straight through the ring and back up into a metal cam buckle. Pull the webbing through, let go, the buckle bites – that is how you set the height. You do not need a carabiner for it, and there is none in the box. There are no numbers on the webbing either, so you match the two sides by eye.

Is 225 cm of strap enough for you?

The 225 cm is the length of the webbing, not automatically the distance between anchor and ring – the strap runs down through the ring and back up to the buckle, after all. On a rig crossbeam or under a normal room ceiling you are well served, because everything there happens at two to three metres. Under a high hall ceiling or an open roof truss it gets tight.

That is exactly what the Holzringe mit nummerierten Straps are for, with 6 m of webbing and numbers woven in. The length is one point, the numbering the other: hang your rings once and leave them hanging, and you need no numbers. If several athletes change the height every day, the numbers save them the re-adjusting each time. Both are a sound decision – it hangs on your room, not on your standards.

If you hang from a rig or under a normal room height, 225 cm is plenty – then the Eco Holzringe are the right call. For high hall ceilings, or when several athletes change the height every day, take the Holzringe mit nummerierten Straps. Two hanging situations, two fitting answers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far apart do I have to hang the rings?
Leave 50 to 60 centimetres between the two anchor points. In that range the rings stay underneath you instead of pulling you outwards on dips and ring push-ups. Measure it before you drill or commit to a hanging point on your rig – moving an anchor afterwards is far more work.
Are the straps included or do I buy them separately?
Both are included: two rings and two straps, already threaded. You lay them over your beam or into your anchor and pull the webbing through the cam buckle to the height you want. No carabiner needed for it.
Will the rings fit my rig?
Yes, as long as you have a crossbeam or anchor you can lay the strap over. If you want a defined hanging point instead of webbing over steel, have a look at the Ring Hanger or the Gym Ring Fixed for the rig. For the ceiling there is the Swiss Line Ring Hanger.
Is 225 cm of strap length enough for me?
On a rig or under a normal room ceiling, yes – you are only going two to three metres up there anyway. Under a high hall ceiling or an open roof truss you need more travel downwards, and then the Holzringe mit nummerierten Straps with 6 m of webbing are the fitting choice.
How much weight do the rings hold?
Your body weight plus swing – that is what gymnastic rings are built for, and wooden rings have carried gymnasts for decades. The rings are not where it gives. What actually matters is your hanging point: a properly set ceiling anchor or a bolted-down rig takes it in its stride, an old intermediate floor may not. If you are unsure about the substrate, have it assessed before you drill.
What is the difference to the Holzringe mit nummerierten Straps?
Three points: 31 instead of 32 mm grip diameter, 225 cm instead of 6 m of strap length, and webbing without numbers. You need the 6 m under high ceilings and the numbers when somebody else is constantly changing the height. For a fixed spot on the rig, neither counts for much.

Customer reviews

The step from the rings in the box to your own is smaller than most people think. Two rings, two straps, two points above you at the right spacing – that is all it is. The question that comes in most often here is not about grip diameter, it is about the hanging. So I will say it right here: measure out your 50 to 60 centimetres before you order. And if you are hanging under a hall ceiling, take the long straps – not because the rings are any better, but because otherwise you simply run out of webbing.
