In the summer of 2023, CrossFit Quantum came to us: an empty industrial hall at the edge of the forest in Effretikon, 700 m² in size, and a founding team that wanted to turn it into a box. Mark Morgenthaler, Katrin Sigg, Michèle Vögeli and Ralph Staub run it as co-owners to this day – all of them with a day job alongside: pilot, physician, lawyer, finance professional. The box opened in September 2023.
The first contact came through a personal connection – we knew each other before the project started. What decided it was something else: quality, short distances to Pfäffikon and someone who picks up the phone. That it turned into repeat orders over three years has nothing to do with that first call any more.
We delivered the complete base fit-out: the dual-layer rubber flooring for the entire training area, the rig of uprights, single beams and junction bars with fixed rings and climbing ropes, plus Multi Sports Bars, colour bumper and change plates, hex dumbbells, kettlebells, wall balls, benches, plyo boxes and bands. Ordered in June, delivered in batches until November 2023 – alongside the interior work, which the team largely handled themselves. Katrin names exactly that as the biggest challenge: the planning, building the changing rooms and mounting the rig.
The box has grown since then: more members, more on offer. Rookie classes for beginners, Stamina on Sundays, Olympic weightlifting in four-week blocks, plus open gym from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. In 2025 came the storage that makes the difference day to day – storage shelves for plates, balls and kettlebells, more uprights, weight horns. Asked which part of the setup they like best, Katrin says: rig, storage, the high ropes.
