Handball Stäfa

Handball Stäfa – the “Vikings of Lake Zurich” – has been around since 1962. Today the club has 558 members and 22 teams, from the QHL team down to the kids. At the heart of training for more than 150 young players and adults aged 13 and up is the weight room. The problem: the equipment had grown old and no longer met what training, safety and injury prevention require today.

In December 2025 the club launched a crowdfunding campaign. The goal was CHF 20,000 – more than 25,000 came in, enough to fund around 40% of the weight room renewal. In February 2026 the new equipment from cross equip arrived: an A-PEX Rack with safety arms and cable attachments, HG CORE 15 floor tiles, a storage system for kettlebells, balls and plates, bumper plates, a trap bar, an AssaultBike Pro X, a hip thrust bench and a plyo box. More plates and a barbell followed in May, a timer in September.

The biggest challenge is still the room itself: it is small, yet it has to fit as many different machines and training options as possible. That is exactly what the A-PEX is for – power rack, cable pulley and Smith machine on a single footprint. For the club it's the favourite part of the setup: lots of options on very little space. That cross equip is in the region, and that the equipment can be seen in person in Pfäffikon ZH beforehand, counted for a lot in the decision.
